How do I cook Brussel Sprouts so they taste good?

Buy fresh brussels sprouts. Take away the outside leaves and cut the stem a little. Fry them for a couple of minutes until they are a little brown in butter or olive oil. Then add chicken or beef broth. The heads of the sprouts should stick outside the broth. Cook on very small flame until they are not too soft. Stir them once in a while cooking. The outside leaves should not fall apart. Rinse them or use the broth for your potatoes or something else. Add salt if you like. You can also add butter and almond flakes and roast them after the cooking for short while with that. Guten Appetit! |

I have a delicious sprout recipe. Cook a pound of bacon, crumble and set aside. Lightly brown 1/2-1 onion in the bacon grease and set aside. Pour out all but about 1 Tbsp of the leftover bacon grease and deglaze the pan with a can of chicken broth. Make sure you scrape all the little bits off the bottom of the pan. Heat this til boiling and place one large bag of sprouts or 2 small ones in the pan, add the onions and 1/2 of the bacon. Cover and cook til tender. Make sure to watch and make sure they don't boil dry. When tender, most of the liquid will be gone. Top with the remainder of the bacon and serve. I love this dish as a cold leftover too. |

Start with brussel sprouts that are smaller in size since they are not as bitter as the larger ones. Steam them and serve them with melted Velveeta sauce. Another option, is to use a little bit of cider vinegar on top of cooked brussel sprouts. My husband loves them like this. |

I usually steam them and then if you want, you can make a white sauce to put over top. You could also try marinara sauce, your typical flavored tomato sauce. A little soy sauce is also good, if sodium isn't a concern. You can also get low sodium soy sauce, which tastes just as good. |

Roast them in a pan with butter, almonds, garlic salt, salt, and some red pepper flakes for a little punch. |

The first thing to do is sometimes the sprouts need trimming so cut off any woody part of the stem so that its nice and flat. Score the bottom of the sprout with a X using a sharp knife. You can steam them and then serve with butter salt and pepper and serve immediately Try a little sprinkle of nutmeg on them as well, it enhances the flavor even further. |
