Meat does not rot in the freezer it only gets freezer burn which gives it a gross taste. That usually happens within two to three months unless it is wrapped correctly, under which case should be good to use.

Here's a Fact Sheet on food storage: http://origin-www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Refrigeration_&_Food_Safety/index.asp

Raw, uncooked meat varies from 1-2 days to 3-5 days. For longer storage, wrap properly and store in the freezer. Best way is to put it into an airtight container or freezer bag. Get as much air out of the container as possible to avoid freezer burn.

Be careful to check your refrigerator and freezer temperature with an appliance thermometer to make sure they're in the safe zone: 0F or below for the freezer, 40F or below for the refrigerator.

Different types of meat stay good different amounts of time. Fish and chicken, I believe, have the shortest "shelf-life" in the fridge. One very important rule to remember is: If in doubt, throw it out!
