http://ask.recipelabs.com/questions/3784/suggestions-for-using-a-ton-of-peachesSuggestions for using a ton of peaches...Ikkle Becca2010-07-23T18:51:48Z2010-07-27T20:27:22Z

I have just picked about 3kg (5lb) of peaches from the tree in our garden. I do not know what kind they are, but they are in urgent need of eating before I lose the whole lot to bugs and mould. There are still plenty more on the tree too, though more drop off each day!

So, my question is, what shall I do with a large number of peaches?! They are not especially large.

My husband is requesting peach pie, and I did find this question which sort of helped me, but I could do with a bit more information and confirmation about whether this is the right approach.

Alternatively, what other recipes do people make? And I was wondering about peach jam. I haven't scoured the internet yet, but certainly my recipe books didn't come up with much to inspire me, so now I reach out to you wonderful people!

I have some peculiar old recipe books - I recently found a (circa 1930) recipe in one for "Mystery Cake". This is a sweet eggless cake, and the recipe reveals the mystery ingredient to be a sixpenny can of Heinz Cream of Tomato soup!

I'm going to try a version, then I might put the recipe up - but it got me wondering:

I have noticed that very few questions recently seem to have been accepted. In fact in the last three weeks only two answers have been accepted. Obviously nobody can be forced to accept answers which they do not feel answer their question, but I am not sure this is always the case. Some of the recent answers to questions have many up votes and do look 'acceptable'.

Is the problem a lot of new users who do not fully understand the system? If so, is there anything we can do about it? Have other people noticed this problem? And do they think it is a problem (or am I just being irrational?!)? Getting points is only a side effect of a website like this, but without the voting and accepting of good answers it is hard to remain motivated. Even people with very low reputation can accept answers, and yet a quick glance through the users shows that very few do. Why is this? Perhaps people need to be encouraged more to accept the top (or another good) answer, or to edit their question to get more satisfactory answers.
